
Coach Irmas Coach McLean
Todd Irmas - Aquatics Head Coach
Coach Todd Irmas joined the Westlake High School Staff in the fall of 2001 as the head aquatics coach and Spanish teacher. Before coming to Westlake, Irmas coached and taught for 10 years at his alma mater, Beverly Hills High School. During Irmas's tenure, the Normans captured two Ocean League titles in varsity boys swimming and earned a rank of 7th in CIF boys water polo in 1996. Irmas was also instrumental in the creation of the girls' water polo program at BHHS.
Irmas played water polo and swam at Beverly Hills High School, where he graduated in 1981. He was a three-year varsity letterman in swimming, helping the Normans to three consecutive Bay League boys varsity championships and a dual meet record of 44-1. He qualified for CIF in the 200 yard individual medley both junior and senior year. In water polo, he was a two-year varsity letterman and competed in CIF playoffs both his junior and senior year. He was voted MVP of his team and was inducted into the Beverly Hills High School athletics Hall of Fame. He was also voted on the All Bay League Team as a senior.
Irmas attended Pomona College where he continued to swim and play water polo. As a senior Irmas was voted on the SCIAC All Conference Team. He graduated in 1985 with a BA in Foreign Language. After graduating Irmas lived in France for a year, working and competing with a local French water polo club.
Irmas resides in Westlake Village with his wife, Claudia, a real estate agent, and his two children, Cameron and Canelle, who both attend school in the Conejo Valley Unified School District. He continues to practice and compete with Daland Masters swim team.
Coach Matt McLean - Aquatics Frosh/Soph Coach
Coach Matt McLean joined the Westlake High School Staff in the fall of 2007 as a Math teacher and Assistant Coach of the Swimming and Water Polo teams. Prior to joining the Westlake staff, McLean coached and taught at the Daland Swim School for four years. McLean also worked as an instructor's aide and substitute teacher at Pinecrest Elementary School for the 2006-2007 school year.
As a student, McLean played water polo and swam for Westlake High School. He was a three-year Varsity letterman in swimming, helping the Warriors continue a run of five consecutive Marmonte League Boys Varsity Swimming championships. McLean also captained the Boys Water Polo team during his Senior year at Westlake High.
After Westlake, McLean went to the University of Toronto where he played water polo for the University's Varsity Blues. During his time with the team, the Blues won three Ontario University Athletics Association Championships. He graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
Also a Mathematics teacher at Westlake High, Mr. McLean can often be found in the WHS Math Department, helping students overcome their fear of the subject. When not on deck or at school, Coach McLean enjoys watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Los Angeles Lakers, and going to see a good movie.

Farhad Ghaemi graduated Westlake High in 2006 after playing 4 years on the Boys Water Polo Team as a goalie. He traveled to Croatia and Ireland with Coach Irmas to play water polo in the summer of 2005. Farhad currently attends University of Northridge where he is majoring in Business Management and Marketing along with a Minor in Construction Management. He plans on eventually owning his own construction company. After working with California Coast club team with the "Age-group" Program, he officially joined the Westlake Water Polo staff in 2007 as the Boys Junior Varsity Coach, and currently has accepted the Girls Varsity and Junior Varsity positions. He plans to continue coaching water polo and helping the teams he is working with reach their potential.
